Earlier this year, Tread Lightly! teamed up with John Deere to restore a trail at Uwharrie National Forest in North Carolina.

This day helps educate Americans about the environment and natural resources, and the need for shared stewardship of these valued, irreplaceable lands. It’s a good way for the community to come together for a cause that will effect everyone. The main goal of National Public Lands Day is to improve public lands for outdoor recreation, with volunteers assisting land managers in hands-on work.

Volunteers partake in such activities as building trails, removing graffiti, picking up trash, building fences, removing invasive species and building new campsites. That’s just some of what the events in Utah are offering, think how much impact this day will have for the Nation!

So how can you do your part for this wonderful day? You can check out their website, http://www.publiclandsday.org/, and see where events are being held in your local area that you can help out at!
